I used to think that taking photographs of the Moon was near impossible. You needed a sweet camera, and a huge telephoto lens. You do. That is if you want your photos to look like this.
That amazing shot was with a telescope that was the equivalent of a 1920mm lens with 2x converter mounted on it. A little out of the average photographers lens range. However I've read a few articles about shooting the moon and I managed to come up with this shot using my 75-300mm f4-5.6. My shot is most definitely cropped, otherwise the moon is still a speck, but for a first attempt I'm pretty pleased. I forgot to use my mirror lockup so I think I can still achieve a sharper photo, I'll try that next time.
